I think as consumers we play part of young black men wanting to become rappers rather than doctors, lawyers, and politicians. Over the last couple of decades Hip Hop went from and art of storytelling to a bunch of nonsense that so happens to be or appear to be a quick and easy way to make money. I feel that we as Black people have failed by not making education a priority for some of these men and acknowlegding positive male role models that are reaping the benefits of a good education and that give back to the community: brothers, fathers, freinds, and sons. And overall this nation has failed by over-glamorizing the ghetto and hood shit. Now we have a multitude of young black men that are selling their souls and throwing away their lives to be trapstars, thugs, and ballers. We’ll ignore a young black man that has earned a degree, but we will treat a nigga that just got out of jail like a hero. But you don’t hear me though.
The funny thing is, he’s like that in the videos, but in interviews he sounds the complete opposite, smart! That’s how I know this is all fake.
