well overall as a country our education sucks as a whole. when we’re compared to other developed countries we are consistent D students. on top of that, you have many teachers who only teach their students what they need to pass standardized test which isnt much.

now i think the failure of our community is because mainly because of our community. i know being a nerd/geek was never been popular but its to the point now where people think its cute to act like a bunch of ignorant fools. i dont know how many times ive been said that i was “acting white” because im well spoken and articulate or that when i come into a classroom i sit down, be quiet and do my work.

i work with kids [elementary and middle school] and overall there is this attitude of failure IS an option. someone asked me why do i get mad when rappers tell students to do well in school but talk about violence, sex, drugs in their music. well these kids listen to their music and they carry these same attitudes that artists talk about in their music. i get mad when i hear a student singing the lyrics to a gucci mane song but cant work a calculator. i get mad when i hear a 12 year old singing about sex and she’s pregnant for the second time. i get pissed off when i students walking around with outfits that easily cost up to $300 but never come to school with pen and paper. now if things like that dont make you upset then i dont what to tell you

I look at not graduating high school as natural selection.

My father works at a majority white high school just 8 miles from Alabama. He said that county has the highest rate of illiteracy in all of GA, only 50% of seniors pass, and he’s teaching his students how to read and preparing them for college at once. A lot of his students dropped out because of having babies or helping parents out financially. But you won’t find this on the front page of CNN because in the media’s eyes, whites are supreme and perfect. Something in the milk isn’t clean when it comes to this study. Too convenient.

Check out YouTube: TheTrueWiseChannel. This guy is on point with his research. Watch “Too black for YouTube”, “Crushing White Supremacy 1-3″, and “The Black Woman is Earth Series”. Very enlightening. It explains how everything is designed to keep blacks down and why our true history is kept from us.

Damn. I must feel strongly towards this topic because I’ve written alot. I also added some stuff on a post I did on Plies, but it applies to this.

That’s half the question for me @JohnnyBravo. Where’s the hell are the role models? My Grandma told me that black people these days have no responsibilty for each other and she was right. NIGGERS (yes, I said it) of all ages are lazy as fuck these days. It takes a village to raise a child and parents can do so much. Yes, parents are the foundation for a child’s character, but the community takes part of developing a child too. Also, if you look @ what we have for role models you cannot be surprise @ the outcome. Hood role models: trapstars and thugs. T.V. role models: rappers & athletes. That’s it. No lawyers, doctors, teachers, or entreprenuers outside of music atleast. Even though most sensible black people know that there are black men of valor, integrity, vigilance, and strength, but they have not been present in the media like they should be. I feel that we as Black people have failed by not making education a priority for some of these men and acknowlegding positive male role models that are reaping the benefits of a good education and that give back to the community: brothers, fathers, freinds, and sons. And overall this nation has failed by over-glamorizing the ghetto and hood shit. Now we have a multitude of young black men that are selling their souls and throwing away their lives to be trapstars, thugs, and ballers. We’ll ignore a young black man that has earned a degree, but we will treat a nigga that just got out of jail like a hero. But you don’t hear me though.

This is sad. I looked at graduating H.S. as a must, there was no thinking abt it. I think they should make the days shorter and the year longer. My niece works on that type of schedule.
