There’s a rumble going down in Atlanta courtesy of newcomer Rich Homie Quan after releasing a new diss track called “A N*gga” directed at fellow Georgia hip-hop artist Future.
The unexpected diss track surfaced online Wednesday (October 16) afternoon.
Atlanta’s own, Rich Homie Quan, returns to the scene today with something new and interesting for our listening enjoyment. The track is called “A Ni**a” and finds the southern wordsmith showing off his unique style and speaking passionately about someone who has done his wrong. Word is this is aimed at the neck of Future, though nothing comes out to indicate anything in particular. Rich Homie does his thing though, riding the synth driven southern banger nicely, and showing off his style rather well. (Stupid Dope)
Instead of spending time on subliminal lines, Rich makes sure to name-drop Future.
“I’m back like the future, n*gga/Quan, you the future. Ooh. Who?/ Tell ‘em, don’t confuse me with Future, n*gga /Ohh, Pockets fat, retribution, n*gga.” (“A N*gga”)
Some sites suggest Quan’s jabs are defensive and likely a response to recent comments Future made.
This is likely a response to Future, who spoke on others copying his style, when asked about Rich Homie Quan. “I started this,” Future said to Sway in the Morning in August. “You use the same pattern. You can’t use the same pattern that Future uses. You can’t say, ‘Turn up.’ You gotta say another word. Make the world feel what you saying…You sound like Future. You can’t just have the same rhyme patterns as Future. People gon’ put you in the Future category. (HHDX)
The track follows news of a rift forming between Future and Young Money’s Drake.
Hot rappers Drake and Future are facing off in a $1.5 million feud after Drake demanded supporting act Future be kicked off his tour in a beef over a Billboard article, Page Six can exclusively reveal. Drake was booked to tour with Future and R&B singer Miguel on a 39-city schedule kicking off Friday in Pittsburgh. Future went to Billboard magazine’s office on Oct. 4 to give editors a listen to his latest album, “Honest.” Associate editor Erika Ramirez published a story with quotes from Future, which she also posted on her Twitter feed. “Not only is future’s #honest album interesting, so are his thoughts on Drake’s #NWTS album,” Ramirez wrote. She then went on to quote Future: ” ‘Drake made an album that is full of hits but it doesn’t grab you. They’re not possessive; they don’t make you feel the way I do’ — Future.” After reading the story, Future’s horrified managers argued with the mag that his quotes were off the record and taken out of context. We’re told the online story was edited, but Ramirez didn’t delete her tweets. (New York Post Page Six)
