With his collaboration Hell: The Sequel with Royce Da 5’9 hitting the top of the charts in its first week, Em also became the first artist in five years to have two No. 1 albums within a 12-month period.

“Recovery selling one million digital albums is an incredible achievement by an incredible artist,” said Interscope Records’ Vice Chairman Steve Berman in a statement. “I have had the pleasure of working with Eminem throughout the course of his career, and I’m delighted to be a part of yet another milestone on his amazing journey.”

Sway, who has made his name as the host of the legendary “Wake Up Show” alongside his partner King Tech has played a part in launching the careers of many rappers including Tupac, Notorious B.I.G. and, of course Eminem through his critically acclaimed radio gig. His contributions are something that the now-multi-platinum Slim Shady is still fully aware of. “I got my start on radio with Sway and so it only makes sense for things to come full-circle and have him join the family at Shade 45,” Eminem said in a press release announcing the new show. “I’m looking forward to the honor of Sway making mornings better on Shade 45 on Sirius XM for a long time to come.”

For Sway, it’s another chapter in an already esteemed career. “I’m constantly striving to be a part of winning teams and movements and Shade 45 on Sirius XM embodies this spirit,” he said in the same release. “We plan to tap into hip-hop and pop culture, global and domestic news and classic and groundbreaking new music. This is truly a labor of passion for me with two of the best at what they do, Eminem and Paul Rosenberg. We plan to make more history!”

Fans can expect “Sway in the Morning” to feature song premieres, in-studio guests and music news Monday through Friday from 8:00am- 12:00 pm ET.

Eminem’s title of his latest album takes on a whole new meaning after his Grammy Awards performance revealed that the Detroit rapper is serious about kicking his addictions.

Shown wearing the Alcoholics Anonymous sobriety pendant and necklace, Eminem’s long battle with prescription drug addiction and alcoholism appears to be on the mend. Eminem revealed last year that his addiction to painkillers and other prescribed drugs robbed him of his formidable rhyming skills and that he had to reinvent his approach to music.

“I had to learn to write and rap again, and I had to do it sober and 100 percent clean,” Em said in regards to his fifth studio album Recovery. “That didn’t feel good at first … I mean it in the literal sense. I actually had to learn how to say my lyrics again; how to phrase them, make them flow, how to use force so they sounded like I meant them.”

The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the story, reported that the Alcoholic Anonymous Sobriety and Circle pendant represents a three part answer (unity, recovery, service) to the three part disease of alcoholism and addiction (physical, mental, spiritual). The circle surrounding the triangle represents a sense of wholeness as a person enrolled in the AA program battles their disease.

Eminem’s Recovery album was the top selling album of 2010 and with the star nabbing two Grammys this past Sunday, sales of the emotionally charged and epic album are sure to increase. The aptly titled album won a Grammy award in the Album of The Year category.

First…know that the NY Post is reporting the following:

The giant Jay-Z and Eminem concerts at Yankee Stadium on Monday and Tuesday, September 13 and 14, left stadium-area businesses with fat pockets.

Cary Goodman, executive director of the E. 161st Street BID, said that the BID just completed a survey of bars, restaurants, pizzerias, and clubs in the area of the stadium, most of them from Gerard Avenue down to River Avenue, and abutting the stadium area.

The survey asked them to rate, on a scale of 1-10, how well they fared in the evenings after the concerts. The average response was a 9.

“We asked them how this compared to a normal Monday or Tuesday night when the team is out of town,” said Goodman. “Overwhelmingly, merchants indicated this was somewhere between the night of a playoff and a World Series game, in terms of how well they did.”

Bars and restaurants such as Billy’s, Stan’s, the Dugout, and even smaller places like Yankee’s Eatery all flourished from the crowds of people that took to the streets after each concert, looking for somewhere to have a drink.

“Monday night we had some rain,” said Goodman, “which was even nicer because people wanted to get off the street and go into a bar or restaurant.”

Zachary Kraus, a manager at Z’novia who was working on the two nights of the concerts, said that Z’novia did extremely well.

“We don’t typically open on Monday, but we did for the concert,” he said. “It was absolutely well-worth being open. The idea that we can cross-promote for events other than Yankees games is huge.”

Kraus said that Z’novia served a special drink, Jay-Z’novia, and that it sold like crazy. “The whole area was festive, so it felt like there was a party on the street,” he recalled. “It’s nice to know that on those nights people saw us that ordinarily would not have. It was great to see these three or four blocks come alive the way they did.”
Goodman said that the blocks did more than come alive for just two nights — they experienced such great evenings that they may revolutionize the way they do business entirely.
