Soulja Boy, born DeAndre Cortez Way, was pulled over in October on Interstate 20 for a traffic violation.

After searching the car, officers found handguns, thousands of dollars in cash and more than five ounces of marijuana.

According to the Temple police, Soulja’s accomplices, Dontay Lamar Bates, Camron Wagner and James Raymond Smith were all charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute and were also charged with the possession of a firearm.

“This office has not charged a defendant named DeAndre Cortez Way, a/k/a Soulja Boy,” Yvette Comer, representative of the U.S. District Attorney’s Office said. “Otherwise, we do not confirm or deny federal investigations in any matters.”

John R. Murphy, special agent for the Drug Enforcement Agency’s Atlanta Field Division, told the Times-Georgian that the case did not meet requirements for federal drug investigation.

“There were some initial discussions about taking it federal, but it didn’t make any federal guidelines,” Murphy explained in a statement to reporters. “As far as the drugs, it was five ounces of marijuana, that wouldn’t even register on a federal level. If you’ve got a rapper that could show legitimate income, that could be contested as being legitimate income, and without a substantial amount of drugs, we didn’t have anything that would rate a federal drug charge on that.”

Soulja’s attorney Kip Jones had not returned calls regarding the case as of Tuesday afternoon.

Soulja filed the documents in Georgia Superior Court, claiming his manager/lawyer Philip Ransom coerced him into signing multiple contracts when he was just starting out — contracts that were “unconscionable, oppressive, and unjust.”

According to the docs, the contracts included a management agreement that gave Ransom 5% of Soulja’s income … forever … relating to work the rapper completed while Ransom was his manager.

Another contract allegedly gave 50% of all Soulja’s music copyrights to his record label — a deal the rapper now claims is “commercially unreasonable” and “contrary to music industry custom and practice.”

But in reality, Soulja’s just bitching because he didn’t read the fine print — the contracts Soulja signed ARE industry standard … some recording contracts even take 100% of the copyrights.

Ransom denies the allegations — filing new legal docs claiming Soulja’s full of crap … and still owes him money from their time together.

According to TMZ, Soulja was pulled over on Tuesday morning for a traffic violation. When officers approached the Cadillac Escalade, they detected a strong odor of marijuana. After their search, they found a “substantial amount” of weed and a firearm in a briefcase, allegedly belonging to the rapper. All five men in the vehicle were taken into custody.

Upon his release that evening, the 21-year-old hip-hop star resurfaced online to thank his fans. “Thank you and i’m sorry. love you forever, seeing your letters and you standing outside that jail made me feel the love. my fans r the best,” he tweeted before filling timelines with positive messages from his followers.

Soulja’s DVD Soulja Boy: The Movie was released the same day as his arrest and he was forced to cancel his scheduled press. “I missed 10 interviews today for my new movie! to those companies i’m sorry! you can see I had a lil situation. the show must go on,” he wrote.

He plugged the movie and expressed his gratitude before logging off for the night. “Goodnight. much love go cop soulja boy the movie everywhere now thanks for your prayers.”

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … Soulja was in a car with 4 other men, which was originally pulled over for a traffic violation.

We’re told … during the stop, cops found a “substantial amount” of marijuana and cash inside the vehicle.” Soulja and the 4 other men were all arrested. Soulja is still being held in Carrol County Jail.

Law enforcement sources tell us officers also found guns inside the car — though it’s unclear if any of the men had the proper licenses to be in possession of the firearms. We’re told an investigation is underway.

One source with knowledge of the situation tells us there was roughly $70,000 in cash and drugs in the car.
