According to Washington D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier, D.C. police and ATF agents acted as undercover officers and “music industry insiders” during the year-long sting.

The police created the “Manic Enterprisess” studio in Northeast Washington, for fictional rap artist Richie Valdez in November of 2010.

Agents then told the underground world and black market that they were seeking to purchase weapons and drugs.

Over the course of the year, agents confiscated 161 firearms (including a rocket launcher), 29 assault weapons, 80 pounds of methamphetamine, 21 pounds of cocaine, 1.25 gallons of PCP, 24 pounds of marijuana, heroin and Ecstasy.

“If these drugs and guns had made it to our streets, the impact would have been devastating to community,” Police Chief Lanier told AllHipHop.com in a press release on Monday.

“This was an extremely dangerous operation. These suspects had bragged about other violent crimes they had committed and had no qualms about killing police officers, guards and other innocent people,” Chief Lanier continued. “All the law enforcement members involved in this operation are to be commended for their bravery.”

In addition to the seizures of drugs and weapons, police said many of the 70 suspects detained bragged about other crimes and reportedly stated they would kill police officers or other innocent people if necessary.

Undercover officers arrested one group of assailants in a preemptive attempt to stymie a robbery of the studio.

The depth of the investigation went one step further, when officers ventured to Atlanta with suspects claiming to be associated with the Mexican Drug Cartel “La Familia”.

The Mexican cartel members unknowingly introduced agents to the source that was supplying guns from Georgia.

“These investigations have proven very effective in targeting criminals and keeping drugs and guns off our community’s streets,” said US Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. “The US Attorney’s Office is committed to working with our law enforcement partners and the citizens of the District of Columbia to bringing those who traffic in narcotics and firearms to justice.”

The recording studio was located at a rowhouse in Northeast Washington and was equipped with hidden audio and video equipment.

“It was just about two years ago to the day that we stood here with Chief Lanier and talked about our commitment to the safety of the citizens in the District of Columbia,” said ATF Assistant Special Agent in Charge Rich Marianos. “Today’s event shows that the men and women of ATF kept their word, and continue their work in making the citizens of DC safer.”

Reports ABC Action News:

Authorities plan to charge the victim’s brother 23-year-old Deangelo Rashard Mitchell, with involuntary manslaughter.

The incident happened when both brothers were in the back of a police car on November 30. The two had been arrested for trafficking.

Video from inside the police car captured a conversation between the brothers, where Deangelo pleads with his younger brother to take the cocaine in his bottom and eat it to get rid of it.

“One of us gotta do it, you the only one that don’t have any strikes. …You my little brother… I’m gonna get life,” Deangelo said to Wayne.

His bother complied and ate the drugs.

When officers saw the cocaine residue on the seat where Wayne sat, Deangelo told officers that his brother swallowed cocaine. Within the hour, Dwayne struggled to breathe, bled from his mouth and died.

Deangelo was charged with trafficking drugs and bonded out of jail December 1.

Once toxicology results confirmed that Wayne died directly from consuming the cocaine, police decided to pursue more serious charges. Authorities are now looking for Deangelo to charge him.

The U.S. limits the amount of azodicarbonamide in flour products based on their findings in lab testings. That’s only one of the 70 ingredients in the McRib, imagine the potential harm of the remainder. That could be explanation as to why the sandwich is not sold year round.

Not only does the McRib’s recipe contain many items that some may view as harmful to consume, the basic nutrition facts are extremely unhealthy. It contains 10 grams of saturated fat and over half the daily intake recommended for sodium. That should be enough to have anyone second guessing if the elusiveness of the sandwich makes it worth eating.

Sources close to the person in possession of the tape tell us … neither company has actually laid eyes on the footage … but both sites are serious about acquiring the rights.

TMZ has confirmed … one of the potential buyers is a site called YouPorn — and YouPorn honcho Corey Price tells us the site has made an official offer to pay $150k for the tape.

According to sources, the person in possession of the tape believes the offer is “way too low” — and is willing to hold out for more money.

We’re told the seller has been in contact with a second, unidentified porn site, which has vowed to to beat the current offer — but only if it can screen the footage first.

As TMZ first reported, the footage was shot in 1991 … and it features the late rapper receiving oral sex from a woman while rapping, drinking and smoking a blunt at a house party.

Knockout king is a so-called game where teens punch an unsuspecting target with the motive of knocking him or her out. Earlier this year, a similar attack killed a south St. Louis man.

The latest victim in this game was a man riding his bike with his girlfriend in south St. Louis near the Missouri Botanical Garden. The cyclists say they were doing everything right – riding on off hours, riding together – when they were blindsided by the barrage of teens (read n-word plural) playing a potentially deadly game.

Emily Luten says her boyfriend was punched right under the head while they were cycling home Thursday night. She says the suspects were a group of teens loitering outside the Botanical Garden. “It was a random attack,” she says. “No one knew anything, there were no words exchanged, we didn’t even look at them. I mean it was just come up, punch, run away.”

Luten’s boyfriend was not the only victim. Moments before, the teens targeted another cyclist. Witness Lucy Taylor says she saw six teens beating on a man. In these cases, neither victim was seriously hurt, not knocked out.

Since Rihanna relaxed her restraining order against Chris Brown, one thing is suddenly inevitable: reunion rumours. And among the more plausible — as well as potentially distasteful — is the suggestion that Good Morning America might be trying to orchestrate such a RiRi/Brown reunion for TV. GMA, of course, would be the program where Brown infamously “let off some steam” following a tense Q&A earlier this week.

In an unsurprising bit of scoop, an ABC snitch told E! News that the morning show’s producers want to “milk this event for everything it’s worth.”

And while said source shot down E! News‘ query of whether the network’s Brown-mania might result in the 21-year-old scoring his own reality series, the snitch did offer this suggestion: “What’s far more likely is orchestrating Chris Brown talking to Rihanna for the first time.”

In response to a letter penned by Representatives Edward Markey (D-Mass.) and Joe Barton (R-Texas) expressing concern over the new functionality, Facebook reaffirmed that it will be allowing third parties to request access to users’ addresses and phone numbers.

Facebook noted that it is considering implementing controls that would more explicitly highlight the personal nature of the information being transmitted to applications and explained it is “actively considering” whether to restrict users under 18 years old from sharing their contact information with third-party developers.

“We expect that, once the feature is re-enabled, Facebook will again permit users to authorize applications to obtain their contact information,” Facebook’s Marne Levine, vice president of global public policy, wrote in the letter to Reps. Markey and Barton. “[H]owever, we are currently evaluating methods to further enhance user control in this area.”

Facebook has attempted to tread a fine line with regard to privacy issues even as it has continuously pushed users to share more information, both on Facebook and beyond the social network.

The plan to open up users’ address and phone numbers to third-party sites and services marks the latest frontier in Facebook’s often controversy-fraught efforts to encourage users to be more liberal in sharing their data and online activity.

Even if the revamped feature were to include improved notifications and protections for minors, privacy experts warn the feature could imperil users’ personal information and increase their risk of being targeted by scams, spam, and identity thieves.

Though Facebook prohibits applications from selling users’ information or sharing it with advertisers and data brokers, malicious, rogue apps spreading phishing scams and other ruses are not uncommon on the social network. With just a few errant clicks, an unsuspecting user could potentially hand over her home address to a scammer peddling diet cures or free iPads in an effort to compile credit card data and other personal information.

“[Scammers] might be able to impersonate you if they had your phone number,” said Norman Sadeh-Koniecpol, a professor at the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science. “They’re saying, ‘Please give us your phone number,’ but they’re not telling you whether they’ll share it or whether they’ll sell it or use if for malicious purposes. In fact, you don’t know who you’re dealing with.”

Others are concerned with what they see as Facebook’s willingness to change the rules of play–first encouraging people to share personal information with a more limited group of friends, then allowing that data to be accessed in new, unexpected ways.

“People never thought when they were posting this data [such as their phone numbers] that it would be accessible to anyone but friends. There’s a real mismatch of expectations around that,” said Mary Hodder, chairman of the Personal Data Ecosystem Consortium. “Even if Facebook comes back with new protections, they’re still saying, ‘Hey, get over it, your data is public.’ I feel sad for users that Facebook’s approach is ‘You give us anything and it’s all fair game.’”

Despite the social network’s intentions to make addresses and phone numbers accessible to developers, Rep. Markey offered Facebook measured praise for its response, while stressing the necessity of protecting younger users.

“It’s a negative statement,” said Emani Coulthurst, a black woman from Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. “I’m against abortion myself, and I know a lot of other African-American women who are able to take care of their children well.”

A pregnant Danutua Byra said “the targeting of African-American women is a little aggressive.”

Life Always said it hoped to raise public awareness of Planned Parenthood’s “targeting of minority neighborhoods.”

Planned Parenthood quickly blasted the billboard as “an offensive and condescending effort to stigmatize and shame African-American woman.”

Broden called that description wrongheaded.

“Our message is one that’s provocative,” he said. “It’s true and it’s accurate and it’s real.”

Federal statistics show blacks make up about 13% of the American population, and account for 36.4% of U.S. abortions. This is the first billboard in a national campaign planned by the group.

“It ruined my day,” said Heide Deruiter, a lower East Side resident, after spotting the sign. “It’s a very difficult time to be a woman in the world right now.”

Councilwoman Letitia James blasted the sign and its timing.

“It is misguided to use Black History Month as a tool to promote this message,” said the Brooklyn politician. “Every woman has the right to make personal choices in regard to her body, and I respect many different points of view.

“But to compare abortion to terrorism and genocide is highly offensive.”

Mayor Bloomberg, who hadn’t seen the billboard, said its message wouldn’t change his position.

“I’ve always been in favor of a woman’s right to choose, and nothing that any billboard or anything someone puts up is going to change my mind,” the mayor said.
